Women’s rights in Uganda

I came across this article in Look magazine and was quite shocked. I know there is other horrifying situations and disasters happening in the world right now and we all need to think and pray for the people and families affected by these, but I can’t believe that the Uganda government is passing “The miniskirt bill” ie: banning miniskirts.

The say that they are banning miniskirts because they are causing the high rate of sex attacks in the country.  They are even trying to control what women watch on t.v. such as Beyoncé. Any women caught wearing a miniskirt will be fibed 10 million Ugandan shillings the equivalent of £2, 500 or imprisonment for up to 10 years. Evelyn Namara 28 country director of social enterprise solar Sister, told look magazine: I think the bill is insane . 90% of my wardrobe is above tge knee.  It is ab insult to women. I don’t believe it is to protect women . There are more serious issues affecting Uganda.

It is unbelievable that they could impose such dictatorship to the women of Uganda, I can’t imagine here in England being dictated too . We are all very lucky to be part of a democratic country like England.  Women would not be the scapegoats for problems in the country.  We don’t realise how free we are compared with Uganda.  I could not live without my skirts or dresses, thank god for ‘! .

Lovely vintage accessories

Cottage-gardenPink-roses-for-a-July-weddingrustic-birdcage-wedding-table-decorations A beautiful birdcage for a vintage theme.

Weddings are a big business now, there are all different themes couples can have. I personally love the vintage wedding as you can put you’re own stamp on the wedding, you can add personal touches by making your own name tags and displays. You can recycle old vintage pots and put floral displays in them. You can recycle old tags and cover them with lace and use them as table numbers.

Nickki Minaj Tee

I got this funky Niki Minaj tee from Primark last week for £8!. When I went to purchase it the man at the till said: “you like NikI  Minaj really!” I said of course. When he said would you see her in concert I said I rather see Beyonce’ (that will never happen tickets are like gold dust tho!. Anyway I do like Nicki’s music but Beyonce’, I have listened to her for years and admired her strong image.

But Niki is corageous in her attitude and style, she dosen’t hold back if she feels strongly about a style or opinion I love that. Her real name is Onika Tanya Maraj. Also Rihanna’s collection for River Island dropped today she was in R- Island’s flagship store to launch it, I think it makes sense for her to collaborate with the store as she is edgy and outspoken.
